Jim Rice slammed the Yankees

Oh? Really, now? In recent monthly news it was reported that Boston Red Sox Hall-of-Famer Jim Rice slammed the New York Yankees today. Sigh...these people never learn...

I saw the headlines, so being an Anti-Yankee I was quick to check this out. My teeth started to grind, my eyes popped out of my face like a Loony Toon. I got all excited and whatnot, my weave had never stood up so high on my head in my life. I'm all ready and fired up to read his insults and hard-bashing until...I... regretfully actually read the damn thing.....

Have you ever walked into a Burger King and asked for a whopper topped with cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and extra, extra EXTRA pickles? Then when you finally get your burger all you GOT was pickles? Well that's how disappointed I felt.

I guess I missed the fine print under the headlines read “Warning: We are twisting the situation and dramatizing what he really did say just so you can click on our headlines. Bashing may vary.”

Fox Sports quoted Rice as saying, “You see a Manny Ramirez, you see an A-Rod, you see Jeter ... Guys that I played against and with, these guys you're talking about cannot compare,” then he went on to say “...we didn't have the baggy uniforms. We didn't have the dreadlocks. It was a clean game, and now they're setting a bad example for the young guys.” Where's the insults as Sports news reported?

Where's this apparent “fuel” that's been added to the Yankee-Red Sox rivalry? If you try and argue Rice's comment about the game being different now than it was in the 1970s than maybe you should downgrade to a more simple game like, I don't know, kick the can? He's right, it was a clean-cut game; there were no baggy pants. Jeter, you know Rice was not talking about you when he made that comment, he was talking about Ramirez, so nice try at trying to manipulate the masses, Fox Sports. We're talking 1970s here, people. I would hope everyone knows it was a way different world then than it is now. I mean, it was acceptable for men to wear high heels back then for God's sake. Today, it's acceptable and even “hot” for men to look like girls. It's okay for men to wear tight jeans and “man-panties”, ass hanging all out and whatnot.

Also today we offer ''booster shots'' to help the kids play in the big leagues! Even if there were steroids involved in Rice's era, it was unheard of whereas now it's become common and seemingly acceptable among ballplayers. Ballplayers make excuses like, “It was my milkshake.” I don't know, I've never gotten strangely huge and abnormally strong from drinking milkshakes; should I stay away from the Dominican snack bars? Even the fans don't seem to care anymore because everyone's like, “Whatever; go 'Big Papi'!”

Maybe Jim would have added fuel to the rivalry if he didn't mention Manny Ramirez. Even THAT just reinforces my point that Fox just dramatized the whole damn situation. Hello, Manny wears dreads, Manny wears baggy clothing, heck, he even wears his street clothes UNDER his uniform! So where dos the Yankee bashing come in? Maybe it would have been “slamming” if Rice mentioned how pathetic Alex Rodriguez is for cheating and screwing Madonna, or how shameful it is that Jeter's a known ladies' man. And oh yeah, whoever posted that Derek Jeter is a role model is smoking too much reefah and needs to put the magic dragon down. If you think a ladies man is something the kids should be taught to do than you should get your wife's tubes tied so you never have children. See what I just did there, Fox? THAT'S BASHING. TAKE NOTES!

Rice did not “slam” anyone; he merely stated the facts about his era and ours. Jesus! Today, baseball has turned into a steroid infested who-can-hit-the-ball-the-hardest and make-the-most-cash contest. It's about ladies' men, top-of-the-line shades, huge muscles and bling-bling. It's the same for all professional sports, in fact. It's the same for the NFL and the NBA with their troubled, criminal players, tattoos and greedy attitudes. We're in a recession and guys can't even sign a damn 15 million dollar deal with a team. With the NFL you got criminals like Dante Stallworth, O.J. Simpson and Michael Vick, or clowns like Chad “OchoChico” Johnson. With the NBA you got players throwing up gang signs in the middle of playoff games. Back in the day Larry Johnson threw up the “eff you” sign; come on Pierce, stick to profanities. We got un-sportsmanship-like conduct from dudes like Lebron James, Shaquille “Hoopty” O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, who will never be the man or player Michael Jordan was.

You cannot compare yesterday's time to today's time. It was a different time, level of competition and game then. We have different regulations, desires and attitudes about life and playing these games now. The professional sports image of today is disgraced by far. Period. Rice was right on the money when he said what he said to the little leaguers, and he couldn't have used a better example for MLB: the New York Yankees. Go ahead and write a story about this, Fox Sports.

Now, how's that for “slamming”?

Ahhhh one thing you forgot to mention....Jim Rice has no rings. I know you Yankee haters & Red Sox fans always neglect that part. Derek Jeter has 4 (Thats more than you entire franchise has in almost a century). See, when it comes to sports & life there are winners & losers. Quite simply, Jeter is a winner and Jim Rice is a loser. Forget baggy pants, steroids, dreads, money, or any other part of your blog. Time recognizes legends: Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Joe Dimaggio. One thing they all have in common WORLD SERIES RINGS You guys get it yet I guess not

The fact that Rice has no rings and Jeter does is irrelevant and pointless to this blog. Everything he said about today's game and yesteryear's is fact, it has nothing to do with ring count, sorry to burst your bubble. You're way off, you've missed the point of both me an Rice. It isn't about rings, idk why that has to do with anything.
